Taràtsa project: a large K·LINE sliding patio door opening the living room onto the terrace
At Taràtsa, there was a very wide opening between the living room and the terrace. We wanted to make the most of it with as much glass as possible, while making sure that a sliding door of this size would still be easy to use every day.
We chose a three-panel K·LINE KL-BC Plus sliding patio door, with slim profiles, acoustic glazing and solar-control glass.
With a sliding door this large, how it moves really matters
The video shows exactly what we were looking for: a large expanse of glass that, despite its size, remains easy to open and close.
More glass, slimmer profiles and a sliding door that is easy to use
This sliding door takes up a large part of the façade between the living room and the terrace. We did not want such a wide opening to be broken up by heavy-looking profiles.
The idea was to keep the view outside as open as possible and make the most of the natural light entering this part of the home.
But there was something else just as important: a large sliding door has to be easy to use. If it feels heavy, you notice it every time you step out onto the terrace.
We also wanted to reduce traffic noise from outside and give the living room better protection from the heat of the sun.
Open the living room onto the terrace without compromising on comfort
The size of the opening mattered, but so did making the door comfortable to use every day.
Keep as much glass as possible

A sliding system designed for an opening of this size
For this opening, we chose the K·LINE KL-BC Plus system, designed to handle large dimensions.
The patio door is made up of three sliding panels, allowing us to keep a very large glazed area with visually slim profiles.
It was important to us that it did more than look good when closed. It also needed to feel comfortable every time the family wanted to step in or out onto the terrace.
The system therefore uses reinforced rollers, helping the large panels slide more easily.

Opening the panels changes the relationship between the living room and terrace
With the panels open, the living room gains a very wide route out to the terrace. As this is an opening that will be used regularly, smooth sliding was an important part of the project.

You can see the size. What a photo cannot show is how easily it moves
A photograph shows the amount of glass, but it cannot tell you whether a large sliding door is easy to open.
With three large sliding panels, the track, rollers and sliding system are what make the difference in everyday use.
That was exactly what we wanted here: for such a large opening not to feel heavy every time it was used.
Such a large glazed area also needed to protect the living room
There is road traffic outside this property, so reducing noise was one of the points we wanted to improve.
The patio door therefore uses double laminated acoustic glazing, designed to help reduce noise coming in from outside.
To improve indoor temperatures as well, we combined aluminium profiles with a thermal break and solar-control glazing.
