Aluminium internal doors
An internal door can look good and still be built to last. We manufacture aluminium doors for bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and the rest of the home, with a choice of designs, colours and finishes.
Aluminium provides excellent stability, requires very little maintenance and helps avoid common problems caused by moisture, termites and woodworm.
It does not swell or deteriorate because of moisture.
The aluminium frame provides no food source for termites.
Woodworm cannot attack the aluminium components.
Some doors are replaced for their looks. Others because they have simply had enough.
Sometimes you are simply looking for a door you like. At other times, the reason is a swollen frame, a door that rubs every winter or timber affected by termites.
Aluminium makes sense in both cases. It is stable, easy to maintain and can be used to make an internal door that looks completely at home in a residential setting.
We offer white, RAL colours and wood-effect finishes. There are plain, routed, glazed and inlaid designs, as well as sliding doors.
Why choose an aluminium internal door?
You do not need to have a moisture or termite problem to choose aluminium. You may simply prefer it for its design, durability or the fact that it requires very little maintenance.
Stability
Aluminium holds its shape very well over time. On a door that is opened and closed every day, that stability makes a real difference.
Moisture
In bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms or homes near the coast, aluminium avoids the swelling and deterioration that moisture can cause in some other materials.
Termites and woodworm
Aluminium is not a food source for wood-boring insects. If you have previously had termites or woodworm, we can also assess the frame and subframe to avoid leaving affected timber hidden behind the new door. Read more about termites in wooden doors.
Design
An aluminium door does not have to look like a metal door. You can choose clean designs, colours, wood-effect finishes, glazing or routed detailing to suit the style of your home.
From plain doors to glazed and routed designs
Here are four examples. You can find the full range in our online shop and configure the size, colour and accessories for each door.
Glazed
Ideal for kitchens, hallways and spaces where you want light to pass from one room to another.

Routed
Routed lines add detail to the door leaf without making the overall design feel too busy.

With inlays
Aluminium detailing integrated into the door leaf gives the design a little more definition.
View models →The frame matters too
When comparing internal doors, look beyond the design of the door leaf. The frame, architraves, hardware and installation all play an important part in how well the finished door performs.
Aluminium does not have to look like aluminium
Once installed, what you see is an internal door. Its colour, design and finish are what determine how it sits alongside the rest of the interior.
Bathrooms and damp areas
Moisture resistance is particularly useful here, while the finished door still looks completely at home in a residential interior.
Bedrooms too
Wood-effect finishes allow aluminium to be used even when you are looking for a warmer, more natural appearance.
White, RAL colours or wood-effect finishes
You can coordinate your internal doors with other aluminium elements throughout the home. Choose from neutral tones, more distinctive colours and a range of wood-effect finishes.

If the problem is in the frame, the subframe needs checking too
If you are replacing a door for aesthetic reasons and the existing subframe is in good condition, there is not always a need to replace it.
Things are different if there is moisture damage, termites or woodworm. In that case, it is worth checking what timber remains inside the opening before covering it with a new door frame.
If you are not sure what is behind the existing frame, send us a few photos before deciding.

Questions about aluminium internal doors
Sizes, moisture, subframes, installation, finishes and online ordering.
What are the advantages of an aluminium internal door?
Aluminium is stable, requires very little maintenance and can be used to manufacture internal doors in a wide range of designs and finishes.
It also does not swell or rot due to moisture and cannot be attacked by termites or woodworm.
Are aluminium doors only suitable for bathrooms and damp areas?
No. They can be installed in bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, home offices and practically any room in the home.
Moisture resistance is one of the benefits of aluminium, but you do not need to have a damp problem to choose it.
Are aluminium internal doors available in wood-effect finishes?
Yes. We offer a range of wood-effect finishes, as well as white and RAL colours.
They can look very similar to a conventional internal door while retaining the practical benefits of aluminium.
Can I order an aluminium internal door with glass?
Yes. We offer different glazed designs that allow natural light to pass between rooms.
Do you also offer aluminium sliding doors?
Yes. Sliding options are available depending on the model and installation method.
If you already have a pocket-door system installed, it is important to check its dimensions and compatibility before the new door is manufactured.
What acoustic performance do the doors provide?
The internal doors have an acoustic performance of 25 dB. The final result also depends on the door being correctly installed and adjusted.
Do I need to replace the subframe?
Not necessarily. If the existing subframe is in good condition, it may be possible to keep it.
If there is moisture damage, termites, woodworm or deteriorated timber, the subframe should be checked before the new door is installed.
Can I install an aluminium internal door myself?
The door is supplied as a complete door set to make installation easier. If you have experience with joinery or door installation, you can fit it by following the instructions.
If you are not used to this type of work, we recommend using a professional installer.
Do you make bespoke aluminium internal doors?
We offer standard sizes and can also assess non-standard dimensions.
If your opening does not match one of the standard sizes, contact us so that we can review the measurements and prepare a bespoke quotation.
Where can I buy the doors?
You can visit our showroom in Vilanova i la Geltrú to see models and finishes, or order directly through tienda.alustetic.com.
If you are unsure about the measurements or configuration, you can ask us before placing your order.
It is better to get the measurements right before the door goes into production.
If you are unsure which door to order, what size you need or whether the existing subframe can be retained, send us a few photos and the basic dimensions of the opening.
